Ups and Down

I am starting this blog as a way of journaling my feelings of dealing with a child who has Bipolar Disorder.
I have been having a rough time lately and I need to let go of things.

  1. I have found blogging to be quite therapeutic. Maybe you should also have her do a blog. Could be helpful to both of you. A good outlet. Unless of course you'd rather her not see your posts so you can vent more and get the support YOU NEED...

I am bipolar and lean more towards depression. My mania doesn't go as aggressive as many others do, so I will count that as a blessing. However, my son that will be 13 in less than a month was diagnosed ADD over 4 yrs ago and I've been seeing too many signs in the last year and a half that indicate it's more than that. And he's getting quite aggressive. You put the 2 of us together sometimes and there are explosions... NOT the good kind. I hold back, but I don't have the patience that hubby does, so when he starts pushing my buttons, I try to just remove myself from his presence. Our previous doc didn't want to further evaluate him at this time because he's young for that diagnosis. My thinking is that IF THAT IS what it IS... Give him the meds that will HELP him and NOT make things worse... (as stimulants magnify the aggression in the bp). My mother, brother, me... HELLO! There ARE genetic factors here. *sigh*

So, perhaps we can be pals and help each other out through this wacky bp world. I have a friend (well... she's my daughter's age, but we relate so much I do consider her my friend...) that was diagnosed young like your daughter and has been dealing with this quite a while. You might like her blog as well. http://megandeweyclark.blogspot.com
I wish you, your daughter & family the best! I know it's not easy, but it's not ALL bad, either. I've gained some pretty awesome talents through mania. ;D ((HUGS))

I don't know how well I would relate to your daughters since I am a bit older but I am sure we share some common issues. I make a post aboug high school in a bit so she can see if she relates to my experience. blog address www.megandeweyclark.blogspot.com
